Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive telephone and in-person patient assessments to determine acuity levels and appropriate care pathways
- Utilize clinical judgment protocols to prioritize patient cases based on medical urgency
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients regarding symptoms, treatment options, and next steps
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and care teams to ensure seamless patient transitions
- Document assessments accurately and maintain detailed electronic health records
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and triage protocol development
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, and NC Board of Nursing regulations
Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina (or compact state eligibility)
- Minimum 3 years Emergency Department or urgent care experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong assessment skills with ability to recognize subtle clinical changes
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in Epic EMR systems and telehealth platforms
- BSN degree (MSN preferred)
- Experience with triage protocols and ESI scoring systems
