Responsibilities
- Assess patient symptoms and medical histories via phone triage and in-person evaluations to determine urgency and appropriate care level
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and care teams to develop effective treatment plans and coordinate patient flow
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documentation for all triage interactions and assessments
- Educate patients and families on care pathways, home management, and follow-up requirements
- Monitor departmental metrics and implement process improvements to enhance triage efficiency
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations, hospital policies, and emergency department protocols
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and emergency preparedness drills
Qualifications
- Active Georgia RN license with minimum 3 years clinical experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; ADN with equivalent experience considered
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Triage Nurse Certification (TNCC) required
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certifications
- Demonstrated expertise in rapid assessment, critical thinking, and crisis management
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to de-escalate high-stress situations
- Experience with Epic EHR systems and electronic triage documentation tools
