Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone and in-person patient assessments to determine urgency of care needs
- Utilize clinical judgment protocols to prioritize patient cases based on acuity level
- Provide clear, empathetic communication to patients and families regarding care instructions
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate appropriate care pathways
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documentation of all triage interactions
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage processes
- Handle high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and professionalism
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department or urgent care experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred)
- Proficiency in EHR systems and telehealth triage platforms
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
