Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Evaluate patient symptoms via phone and electronic medical records to determine the appropriate level of care and urgency.
- Clinical Decision Making: Utilize critical thinking to recommend treatment plans, home care instructions, or direct patients to emergency services.
- Documentation: Accurately and timely document all triage interactions, symptoms, and recommendations in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Provider Collaboration: Communicate complex cases effectively to physicians and advanced practice providers for further instruction.
- Health Education: Provide patients and caregivers with clear, actionable education regarding medications, diet, and self-care.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to triage protocols and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required; CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of nursing experience, with specific experience in triage, telehealth, or urgent care.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex medical information clearly.
- Technology: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and computer systems.
- Professionalism: Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure while managing high call volumes.
