Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone triage assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for patients presenting with various medical concerns.
- Document patient interactions, medical histories, and triage decisions accurately and promptly in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Provide expert guidance, education, and reassurance to patients and families regarding symptoms, home care instructions, and treatment options.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care and proper referrals.
- Identify urgent or emergent conditions that require immediate intervention and facilitate timely access to emergency services.
- Stay current with clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practices in triage medicine to ensure safe decision-making.
- Manage high call volumes while maintaining a calm, professional, and empathetic demeanor.
Qualifications
- Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona.
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Triage Nursing (CTN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience in clinical triage, telephone nursing, or emergency room nursing.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to de-escalate patient concerns and build rapport.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar) is highly desired.
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments under pressure.
