Responsibilities
- Assess incoming patients via phone and in-person to determine medical urgency and prioritize care
- Collaborate with physicians and emergency department staff to ensure appropriate patient placement
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) with detailed documentation of patient interactions
- Provide clear medical guidance to patients and families during high-stress situations
- Adhere to established protocols for infectious disease control and emergency response
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage processes
- Mentor new staff during onboarding and training periods
Qualifications
- Active RN license in District of Columbia or compact state
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in emergency or urgent care setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain during training)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated empathy
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
