Responsibilities
- Conduct Triage Assessments: Evaluate patient symptoms via phone or in-person to determine the urgency of care and appropriate level of treatment.
- Medical Decision Making: Utilize clinical protocols to recommend home care, pharmacy interventions, or immediate medical attention.
- Patient Coordination: Coordinate referrals to primary care physicians, specialists, or emergency services as needed.
- Documentation: Accurately and timely document all triage interactions, patient history, and clinical notes in the EMR system.
- Protocol Adherence: Ensure all triage procedures and regulatory guidelines are followed to maintain patient safety and legal compliance.
- Provider Collaboration: Communicate critical patient findings effectively to on-call physicians and care teams.
Qualifications
- License & Certification: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina. BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or triage nursing.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) and computer skills.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong patient-centric approach.
- Problem Solving: Ability to make quick, sound clinical decisions under pressure.
