Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care to patients, including assistance with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming).
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, reporting any abnormalities to the RN immediately.
- Assist with meal planning and feeding, ensuring patients maintain proper nutrition and hydration.
- Support patients with mobility, transferring them safely from beds to wheelchairs or using Hoyer lifts as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment by following proper infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient conditions and needs.
- Assist with medication management under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required by the State of Texas.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care, or home health setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts and handle high-stress situations calmly.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift patients as required.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
