Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake, including vitals, medical history reviews, and symptom assessment.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and clinical procedures.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and patient charts.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure infection control protocols are followed.
- Administer medications and perform basic point-of-care testing as directed.
- Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up care calls.
- Handle insurance verification and billing inquiries professionally.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or equivalent (NY State License required).
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a strong plus for our diverse patient population.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting or assisting patients.
