Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive deliveries, and ensure proper storage and rotation of pharmaceutical products.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers to answer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide medication counseling where necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to state and federal laws, including HIPAA regulations and pharmacy safety protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, prescription profiles, and medication histories.
- Quality Control: Perform routine checks to ensure medication quality, accuracy, and proper labeling.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is required.
- Licensure: Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Virginia.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR).
