Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and proper positioning
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments
- Take and develop accurate dental radiographs (X-rays) with digital imaging systems
- Maintain strict infection control protocols and sterilize instruments according to OSHA standards
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and order materials as needed
- Document patient information accurately in electronic dental records (EDR) systems
- Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on oral hygiene practices
Qualifications
- Certificate/Diploma in Dental Assisting from accredited program (or equivalent experience)
- Current CPR/BLS certification and radiology license (IL state)
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in general dentistry
- Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix)
- Exceptional chairside manner and ability to manage patient anxiety
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Valid Illinois dental radiology permit
