Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories accurately
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures, including injections, wound care, and ECGs
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, and handle administrative tasks efficiently
- Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and prepare laboratory tests for analysis
- Maintain sterile examination environments and sterilize medical equipment
- Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and preventive care
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in a hospital or urgent care setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic or Cerner experience highly valued)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Valid CPR certification and up-to-date immunization records
- Texas state certification or willingness to obtain immediately
