Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients, verify insurance information, and update patient demographics in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Clinical Support: Assist providers with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare treatment rooms.
- Lab Procedures: Perform basic laboratory tests, including phlebotomy (blood draws), and process specimens accurately.
- Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments, handle incoming calls, and manage patient referrals.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Education: Provide patient education on medications and treatment plans as directed by the provider.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification is required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
