Responsibilities
- Process and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage before claim submission
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective communication with patients and insurers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare billing standards
- Utilize EHR/EMR systems for documentation and reporting
- Analyze denial trends and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure charge capture accuracy
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Biller (CPC, COC, or equivalent) required
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience in outpatient/hospital setting
- Proficiency in medical coding (CPT/ICD-10) and billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and payer requirements
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred
- Experience with RCM cycle metrics and reporting
