Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision while adhering to state and federal regulations
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation to ensure optimal supply levels
- Process insurance claims and assist patients with medication counseling and financial assistance programs
- Maintain clean, organized workspace and ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve medication discrepancies and improve patient outcomes
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) for prescription processing and record-keeping
- Train new staff on pharmacy protocols and best practices
Qualifications
- Active Louisiana Pharmacy Technician license or ability to obtain immediately
- Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of prescription medications, medical terminology, and pharmaceutical calculations
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to communicate clearly with diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Basic CPR certification preferred
