Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and patient comfort
- Process and transport specimens to the laboratory while maintaining integrity and chain of custody
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper documentation for all blood draws
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards
- Calibrate and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment including vacutainers and centrifuges
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparations and post-procedure care
- Collaborate with medical staff to optimize specimen collection protocols
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary draws, and pediatric collections
- Strong understanding of infection control procedures and safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- CPR certification required
- Knowledge of LIS systems and specimen processing workflows
