Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before/after surgeries
- Prepare, transport, and dispose of biohazard materials per OSHA guidelines
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia teams to ensure efficient surgical workflows
- Participate in continuous education for surgical technology advancements
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in hospital setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile processing and instrument sterilization methods
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR)
