Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using standardized triage protocols (ESI, EMTALA)
- Make critical decisions for emergency room prioritization and resource allocation
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Document patient encounters accurately in Epic EHR systems
- Stabilize patients during critical emergencies until physician handover
- Provide telehealth triage support for urgent care centers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO standards
- Mentor new nursing staff during high-volume periods
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact license)
- Minimum 2 years emergency department or urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (Epic preferred)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- BSN degree preferred (ADN candidates with experience considered)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in high-stress environments
