Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Hygiene & Safety: Monitor patient hygiene levels and ensure a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all residents and patients.
- Assistance: Support registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) with medical procedures, medication administration reminders, and treatment plans.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status and concerns.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient observations and care provided in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to patient calls and emergency situations, following established safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: Must possess a current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of Virginia.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications are required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care facility, hospital, or home health setting is preferred but not always required.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and transfer patients (up to 50 lbs), and perform physical tasks required for patient care.
- License: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required depending on the facility location.
