Responsibilities
- Provide direct, hands-on patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate.
- Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning to ensure safety and comfort.
- Document patient care activities and observations accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure holistic care.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies within the unit.
Qualifications
- Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of Virginia.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient advocacy.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and transferring patients.
- CPR/BLS certification (Basic Life Support) required or willingness to obtain.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong desire to help others.
