Position Overview:
As a CNA on the night shift, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients' comfort, safety, and well-being during their recovery. You will work closely with Registered Nurses (RNs) and LPNs to deliver compassionate care that meets the highest standards of the healthcare industry.
Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate at scheduled intervals.
- Assistance with Mobility: safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls and injuries.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and care logs in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Observation & Communication: Monitor patient conditions for changes and promptly communicate any concerns or emergencies to the nursing staff.
- Environment Maintenance: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, sanitized, and organized to prevent infection.
- Meal Assistance: Assist patients with feeding and monitor for any dietary restrictions or swallowing difficulties.
Qualifications
- License & Certification: Current and active Texas State CNA license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or long-term care setting preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex medical instructions accurately.
- Compassion: Genuine empathy and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Availability: Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the facility schedule.
