Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance, ensuring patient dignity and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations) and report any abnormalities to the Registered Nurse immediately.
- Assist patients with mobility, transferring them safely from beds to wheelchairs or stretchers using proper body mechanics.
- Administer medications as directed by the Charge Nurse, ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to maintain a safe environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient status and needs.
Qualifications
- Current and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License in the State of Texas.
- CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Compassionate demeanor with a focus on patient-centered care.
