Responsibilities
- Monitor Patient Health: Observe and report changes in patient conditions, including vital signs, to the nursing staff in a timely manner.
- Assist with Daily Living: Provide hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility for patients of all ages.
- Hygiene and Grooming: Ensure patients maintain high standards of personal hygiene and comfort.
- Emotional Support: Offer compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and their families during challenging times.
- Clinical Assistance: Help prepare patients for examinations and treatments, and operate medical equipment under supervision.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient care activities, intake/output, and changes in patient status in electronic health records.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and hygiene standards to prevent the spread of infection.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current, unencumbered New York State CNA license or RN license required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required; completion of a state-approved nursing assistant program is preferred.
- CPR Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross is mandatory.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical personnel.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift patients, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Compassion: A strong desire to help others and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Experience: Previous experience in a hospital, nursing home, or home health setting is highly desirable.
