Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary patient environment.
- Communicate changes in patient condition and needs to the Registered Nurse and nursing staff immediately.
- Document patient care activities and observations accurately in electronic health records.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments under the supervision of the RN.
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required (LSA certification for Louisiana).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull patients weighing up to 250 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
