In this role, you will play a critical role in the diagnostic process by collecting blood samples accurately and efficiently. You will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting our nursing and clinical staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory in accordance with strict chain-of-custody and safety protocols.
- Verify patient identity and obtain accurate pre-test information to ensure test validity.
- Maintain a clean and organized phlebotomy station, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and calibrated.
- Assist in patient intake, managing queues, and providing excellent customer service to reduce patient anxiety.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and OSHA safety standards to protect patient privacy and worker safety.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician Certification (e.g., NHA, ASPT) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or high-volume hospital setting preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure during high-volume shifts.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
