Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and arrange surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile fields
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and adhere to OSHA/JCAHO safety protocols
- Inventory surgical supplies and manage equipment sterilization processes
- Document perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for patient-centered care coordination
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery specialties
- BLS/CPR certification with current ACLS preferred
- Proficiency in sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to maintain composure during high-pressure emergency procedures
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Successful completion of accredited surgical technology program
