Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgeries
- Transport patients to/from operating areas and position them safely
- Scrub, gown, and sterile drape for complex surgical cases
- Manage surgical equipment sterilization and maintenance protocols
- Document surgical cases accurately in EMR systems
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Graduate from accredited surgical technology program
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience preferred
- BLS/CPR certification maintained
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ASHP)
- Ability to stand for extended periods in high-pressure environments
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Flexibility to cover varied surgical schedules including weekends
