Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments prior to procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterility
- Manage surgical supplies and equipment inventory with meticulous attention to detail
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of biohazardous materials
- Document procedural information accurately and maintain compliance with OSHA/JCAHO standards
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize surgical workflow
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in general surgery, orthopedics, or neurosurgery
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Flexibility to cover on-call shifts as needed
