Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during procedures including exams, fillings, extractions, and restorative work
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms following OSHA protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) with precision and patient comfort
- Manage patient records using digital dental software (Epic Dental experience preferred)
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide under dentist supervision
- Provide chairside support and post-operative instructions to patients
- Order inventory and maintain efficient dental supply management
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification or DANB certification required
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in a general dental practice
- Proficiency in dental radiography techniques and infection control protocols
- Knowledge of dental software (Epic Dental, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft)
- CPR/BLS certification from accredited institution
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to ease patient anxiety
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
- Valid Maryland state dental radiography license
