Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorations, extractions, and orthodontic treatments
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) with precision and patient safety
- Perform infection control protocols and sterilize instruments per CDC guidelines
- Manage patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and materials for efficient clinical workflow
- Monitor inventory and order dental supplies to maintain optimal stock levels
- Document patient information and clinical notes accurately in digital records system
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification from CODA-accredited program (or willing to obtain within 90 days)
- Minimum 2 years of chairside experience in a general dental practice
- Proficiency in digital radiography (Dexis/Schick) and practice management software (Dentrix/Eaglesoft)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and dental infection control standards
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Valid CPR certification and Louisiana dental radiography permit
