Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dentist: Provide chair-side assistance during examinations and procedures, ensuring four-handed dentistry for optimal efficiency.
  • Patient Care: Greet patients warmly, review medical histories, and explain treatment plans clearly to ensure comfort and understanding.
  • Clinical Procedures: Perform vital signs, take and develop dental X-rays (radiographs), and prepare treatment areas with proper infection control protocols.
  • Office Management: Manage appointment scheduling, confirm patient appointments, and handle incoming calls with professionalism.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and restock dental supplies and instruments to ensure the operatory is always fully equipped.
  • Lab Duties: Fabricate temporary crowns, pour models, and prepare impressions as directed by the dentist.
  • Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and CDC guidelines to maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Dental Assistant certification (CDA) or completion of an accredited dental assisting program is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a general dentistry setting.
  • Licensure: Current DANB certification (or ability to obtain) and valid Georgia Dental Radiography license.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Skills: Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) is a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
