Responsibilities
- Prepare for Procedures: Set up dental rooms with instruments, equipment, and materials before patient appointments.
- Patient Care: Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Clinical Support: Take and develop dental X-rays, perform impressions, and process dental models.
- Infection Control: Maintain strict sterilization protocols and cross-infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, update medical histories, and answer incoming calls to schedule appointments.
- Chairside Assistance: Use four-handed dentistry techniques, suctioning, and rinsing during procedures.
- Oral Health Education: Provide patients with post-operative instructions and oral hygiene tips.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Dental Assistant certificate or graduation from an accredited program preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a dental assistant preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
- Licensure: Current CPR and First Aid certification required; Radiology certification (X-ray) required or must obtain within 3 months.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of dental terminology, asepsis techniques, and dental software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, patient demeanor.
- Reliability: Ability to work full-time hours with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend shifts.
