Responsibilities

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring the patient is comfortable in the chair.
  • Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques, passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Diagnostic Support: Take and process dental x-rays (radiographs) and intraoral photographs as directed by the dentist.
  • Instrument Care: Sort, sterilize, and package instruments and materials according to strict infection control protocols.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, treatment plans, and dental charts.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
  • Front Desk Support: Manage check-in/check-out processes, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) or DANB certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a dental office setting is highly desirable.
  • Licensure: Arizona X-ray license required.
  • Skills: Proficient in dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) is a plus.
