Responsibilities

  • Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with a focus on 4-handed dentistry and efficient workflow.
  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for treatment, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the visit.
  • Radiography: Perform and process dental X-rays (Panoramic, Periapical) in strict accordance with safety guidelines and ALARA principles.
  • Infection Control: Maintain strict sterilization protocols, manage biohazard waste, and ensure the operatory is clean and organized.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, verify insurance benefits, and handle front desk reception tasks as needed.
  • Education: Provide post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education to patients to ensure optimal recovery.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or active Dental Assistant License in the District of Columbia.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of clinical experience in a general dentistry setting preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in taking impressions, pouring models, and operating digital dental software.
  • CPR: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
