Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, examinations, and minor medical procedures.
- Record and maintain accurate patient medical histories, vital signs, and symptoms.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize medical equipment, and arrange medical supplies.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood draws, following strict safety protocols.
- Manage patient intake, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance information.
- Provide patient education on medications, preventative care, and post-procedure instructions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.
- Skills: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred; willingness to be trained on specific systems.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Regulatory: Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
- Attitude: Compassionate, detail-oriented, and a strong desire to work in a clinical setting.
