Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Greet patients, verify demographic information, and escort them to exam rooms to ensure a smooth check-in process.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and height/weight.
- Assist Providers: Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments and supplies; assist physicians and nurses during patient examinations.
- Administrative Support: Manage patient charts, file medical records, and handle incoming phone calls and inquiries professionally.
- Lab Procedures: Perform basic lab tasks such as blood draws (phlebotomy), urine analysis, and specimen collection as directed.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock exam room supplies and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or MA) is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level applicants.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform fine motor skills (e.g., drawing blood).
- Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills and ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems quickly.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is highly desirable.
