Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage
- Follow up on denied claims and appeals with insurance carriers
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Maintain accurate patient accounts and billing documentation
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective communication
- Analyze denial trends and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve coding/billing issues
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Familiarity with EHR/PM systems (Epic, Meditech, or NextGen preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance in all processes
