Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and sterile fields for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons and nurses during operations, including instrument passing and sponge/needle counts
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical procedures
- Handle and process surgical specimens according to protocol
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment (e.g., endoscopic cameras, electrosurgical units)
- Provide patient support before and after procedures
- Document all activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with sterile processing to ensure instrument availability
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of operating room experience
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency with surgical instruments and equipment
