Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgeries to ensure completeness
- Process and sterilize surgical equipment according to hospital protocols
- Collaborate with nurses and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless surgical workflow
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Graduate of accredited surgical technology program
- Minimum 1 year OR experience preferred (new grads considered)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings/weekends
