Responsibilities
- Review and process insurance claims using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- Verify patient eligibility and coverage details with insurance providers
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective communication with patients and insurers
- Maintain accurate patient records in EHR systems
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance and healthcare billing regulations
- Generate monthly financial reports for departmental review
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certification in medical billing (e.g., CPC, CMRS) preferred
- Proficiency in EHR systems and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and payer requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills for patient and insurer interactions
- Ability to manage high-volume claims while meeting deadlines
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred
