Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone and in-person patient assessments to determine medical urgency and prioritize care
- Provide clinical guidance to patients regarding symptoms, treatment options, and appropriate care pathways
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure timely interventions
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) with detailed documentation of assessments and actions taken
- Educate patients on preventive care, discharge instructions, and follow-up protocols
- Manage high-call-volume triage lines efficiently while maintaining empathy and professionalism
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage protocols
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of California
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department or urgent care experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred)
- Proficient in EHR systems (Epic experience strongly preferred)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with diverse populations
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
