Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, cosmetic, and surgical treatments
- Perform chairside duties including instrument sterilization, tray preparation, and material management
- Take and develop diagnostic dental X-rays with digital imaging systems
- Manage patient flow, schedule appointments, and maintain accurate dental records
- Provide post-operative instructions and ensure patient comfort throughout appointments
- Oversee inventory management and order dental supplies/equipment
- Maintain strict compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification from accredited program (e.g., DANB, CODA)
- Minimum 2 years of chairside experience in a general or specialty dental practice
- Proficiency in digital radiography (X-rays) and dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
- CPR certification and BLS training
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilization procedures
- Excellent communication skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Valid New York State Dental Assistant license
