Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance providers using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines
- Review and resolve claim denials and underpayments through effective appeals processes
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service rendering
- Manage accounts receivable through consistent follow-up and payment posting
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing protocols
- Analyze billing reports to identify trends and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation accuracy for reimbursement
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EHR systems
- Expert knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with claim scrubbing and denial management
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred
