Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Resolve claim denials and rejections through systematic follow-up
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer regulations
- Analyze aging reports to ensure timely reimbursement
- Collaborate with clinical teams to document billing requirements
- Utilize Epic EHR and Cerner systems for coding/billing operations
- Conduct monthly audits for coding accuracy and documentation
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in multi-specialty practice
- Expertise in CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Athena, AdvancedMD)
- Strong knowledge of NY Medicaid and commercial payer policies
- Exceptional attention to detail with error rate <2%
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology preferred
- Experience with UB-04 and CMS-1500 claim forms
