Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense medications and verify prescriptions for inpatient/outpatient services
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and tracking controlled substances
- Provide medication counseling to patients and healthcare staff under pharmacist supervision
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and meticulous documentation in pharmacy management systems
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve drug interactions and clinical inquiries
- Prepare sterile compounds (IV medications, chemotherapy) aseptically
- Coordinate with insurance providers for prior authorizations and billing
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
- Minimum 2 years hospital pharmacy experience required
- Proficient in pharmacy software (e.g., Omnicell, Cerner)
- Strong knowledge of FDA medication safety protocols
- Ability to stand 8+ hours and lift 25 lbs regularly
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Basic understanding of sterile compounding techniques
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
