Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and safe environment in the phlebotomy lab.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort.
- Log patient data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure timely specimen processing.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is mandatory.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients (up to 50 lbs) if necessary.
