Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following strict protocols
- Process and label specimens ensuring chain of integrity for laboratory testing
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to OSHA safety standards
- Provide patient education and support during blood collection procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Document patient information and specimen data with precision
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient experience
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in phlebotomy
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Excellent venipuncture skills with minimal discomfort to patients
- CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
