Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and patient comfort
- Process and label specimens according to HIPAA and CLIA standards
- Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Verify patient identities and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and infection control procedures
- Provide exceptional patient education during blood collection procedures
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Kentucky state phlebotomy license (if applicable)
- Excellent venipuncture skills for diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling protocols
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
