Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections across diverse patient populations
- Process and label specimens following strict HIPAA and CLIA compliance protocols
- Maintain sterile equipment and calibrated collection supplies per OSHA standards
- Provide patient education and emotional support during blood draw procedures
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen processing
- Document patient information and test requisitions with precision
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) credential required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in high-volume setting
- Valid BLS/CPR certification
- Expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-vein protocols
- Proficiency in LIS systems and electronic medical records
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- New York State Phlebotomy license (if applicable)
