Responsibilities
- Assess patient symptoms and prioritize cases using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Provide expert telephone triage for patients seeking medical advice
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams on patient disposition
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in electronic health records
- Educate patients on appropriate care pathways and follow-up instructions
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, TJC, and state nursing regulations
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 3 years emergency/urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Proficient in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- BSN degree preferred (ADN candidates with 5+ years experience considered)
